Fourth Quarter Lifts Edgewood College past Benedictine

LISLE, Ill. – With a spot in the NACC Tournament already locked up, the Edgewood College women's basketball team headed to Illinois with a mission to remain at the top of the NACC. A fourth quarter surge gave Edgewood College their 12th conference victory on Wednesday, as they outscored Benedictine 19-7 in the final 10 minutes and earned a 55-53 victory. Three Eagles scored in double-digits on Wednesday, led by Vivian Guerrero who was dominant from the floor.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (13-9, 12-1 NACC) went into the fourth quarter with a 10 point deficit. In the battle of the Eagles, Edgewood College was determined to come out on top, scoring a whopping 13 points to open the final quarter and take a 49-46 lead with just 1:48 remaining. Kenzie Senffner was a highlight for Edgewood College in the final 10 minutes, scoring eight points, including two makes from beyond the arc. Benedictine University would score seven points down the stretch, but it wasn't enough to catch Edgewood College.

- Jordan Carlquist dominated the first quarter for Benedictine. The senior posted 10 points in the first six minutes of action and helped Benedictine to an early 13-4 lead. Edgewood College would go on to score 11 points and only trail Benedictine by one point (19-18) going into the second quarter.

- Benedictine outscored Edgewood College 15-8 in the second quarter and took an eight point lead (34-26) into halftime. The Eagles from Illinois relied heavily on three-point shooting in the first half.

- Edgewood College was again outscored 12-10 in the third quarter that was the combined lowest scoring of the contest.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Guerrero led all Edgewood College scorers with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor. She added nine rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.

- Kallie Norby posted her sixth double-double of the season. She recorded 14 points and 11 rebounds.

- Senffner did a bit of everything on Wednesday night, recording 10 points, dishing out five assists, and pulling down five rebounds.

THE OPPOSITION
- Carlquist led Benedictine with 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting. She added 3-of-6 makes from beyond the arc.

- Autumn Rucker added 11 points and five rebounds.

- Sophia Hardy pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds and added two assists.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- 12 conference wins is the most since the 2019-20 season, when Edgewood College won the NACC Tournament.

- The Eagles will head to St. Norbert College on Saturday. Action is set for 2:00 p.m. from De Pere, Wis.
