Eagles soar past Owls in nonconference tilt

MONTGOMERY, ALA. – The Edgewood College Eagles baseball squad kicked off their second trip down south in eventful fashion Thursday evening. They squared off with the MUW Owls in more nonconference action. Batting and pitching controlled the day for the Eagles (2-2) as they claimed a 13-8 victory over the Owls (5-3).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first six innings were virtually all Edgewood College. Terry Tolliver Jr. kicked things off in a two-run second, a single to right field netting an unearned run. Brooks Kalscheur followed up with a sacrifice fly to center field for a 2-0 tally after two.

- Connor Goodwin tripled to right field for the first RBI of the third frame, while Kyle Sagan scored Goodwin with a single to center. A two-run double to right field in the fourth by MUW cut the lead in half.

- The Eagles poured on the runs in the sixth with help from their opponents. A passed ball scored Kalscheur with the bases loaded in the sixth. Colby Davis had an eventful inning. After singling to shortstop to score a pair of runs, he advanced to second on an error by the shortstop, kept going to third, and then put a bow on the sixth by scoring on an error by the catcher for an 8-2 lead.

- Small ball and free bases pushed the Owls back into things in the seventh. A hit by pitch and two walks loaded the bases with no outs. A sacrifice fly to right field scored one, while a single to third base and another sacrifice fly to right left Edgewood College ahead 8-5.

- The seventh inning would put things out of reach for MUW. An error by the catcher tacked on the first run, while Ryan Ambrosy doubled in a pair with a hit to center field. Kyle Prindle singled in Ambrosy to leave things at 12-5.

- After a single to second base brought in a run for the Owls in the eighth, Brevin Brisack would end the scoring for the Eagles with a fielder's choice RBI. A two-RBI single to center field wrapped the offense on the evening for both teams as Edgewood College claimed the victory.

- The Eagles finished with 12 hits, complimented by five errors from MUW.
