Dominant offense lifts Eagles past Falcons in NACC Tournament

MADISON, Wis. – It was an evening of redemption for the Edgewood College women's basketball team, as they defeated Concordia University Wisconsin in the NACC Tournament Quarterfinal. The Eagles only lost three regular season conference games, one being to the Falcons. Edgewood College made sure it didn't happen again in the Todd Wehr Edgedome, beating Concordia Wisconsin 71-54. Edgewood College advances to the NACC Tournament Semifinal where they will face No. 2 St. Norbert College on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- With 7:53 on the clock in the third quarter, a jumper from Kenzie Senffner gave the Eagles their largest lead of the evening at 21 points (44-23). From then on, No. 3 Edgewood College (15-11) confidently held on to their double-digit lead in defeat of No. 6 Concordia Wisconsin (12-14).

- Each of the Eagles quarters were headlined by a different offensive player on Wednesday night. Kallie Norby dominated the first quarter for the Eagles, scoring eight of the 17 total points. Edgewood College went into the second quarter with a slim 17-14 lead.

- Jayden Nortier was a highlight for Edgewood College in the second quarter. The freshman scored eight of the 10 Eagles points in the final 3:26 and totaled 11 of the Eagles 23 points in the quarter. It was Nortier's confident scoring that helped the Eagles take a 19 point lead (40-21) into halftime.

- Kenzie Senffner took over scoring duties in the third quarter, notching seven of the Eagles 15 points after the break. Grace Vesperman, Nortier, Moli Haak, and Molly Garrity also contributed to the scoring effort that gave the Eagles a 55-37 lead going into the final 10 minutes of action.

- Edgewood College shot a season-best 56.3 percent (27-of-48) from the field on Wednesday night. Through the first two quarters, the Eagles shot 53.3 percent exactly (8-of-15). They continued to get better as the night went along, shooting 60 percent (6-of-10) in the third quarter, and 62.5 percent (5-of-8) in the fourth quarter. The Eagles added a 75 percent (15-of-20) shooting from the charity stripe.

- The Eagles held the Falcons bench to zero points on the evening, forcing all scoring to come from the five Concordia Wisconsin starters. In contrast, the Eagles received 18 points off the bench, highlighted by seven points from both Ava Berg and Moli Haak.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Norby led the Eagles with a dominant 19 points and seven rebounds on Wednesday night. The senior shot 9-for-13 from the field.

- Nortier added 16 points on 6-of-13 shooting. She added four rebounds.

- Senffner was the final Eagle to score in double-digits, adding 11 points. She also dished out seven assists and pulled down five rebounds.

- Despite being contained on the offensive side of the ball, Vivian Guerrero pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds and added two blocks on the evening.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles are now 7-3 in NACC Tournament games under head coach Chaia Huff. Edgewood College captured the league tournament title in the 2019-20 season. They have now won a NACC Tournament game in each of the last five seasons.

- The Eagles 56.3 percent shooting mark is a season best. The Eagles did not record a quarter of shooting below 53.3 percent against the Falcons on Wednesday night.

THE OPPOSITION
- Aubrey DeBauch led the Falcons with 23 points and eight rebounds.

- Lindsey Lonigro added 14 points and recorded four steals.

- The Eagles will head to No. 2 St. Norbert on Friday. Action is set for 7:00 p.m. from Mulva Sports Center in De Pere, Wisconsin.
