Eagles lock down Inferno to close regular season

MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team dominated Alverno in conference action on Saturday. The Eagles earned their final win of the regular season via a 95-49 score in the Todd Wehr Edgedome. Five Eagles scored in double-digits on Saturday. In addition, the entire Eagles bench found their way into the book in the team victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (14-11, 13-3 NACC) came out the gate strong on Saturday, taking 13-7 lead with 3:53 left on the clock in the first quarter. Five different Eagles scored in the 22-point first quarter. The Eagles took a 22-12 lead into the second quarter.

- It was a dominant second quarter for the Eagles on both sides of the ball. Edgewood College shot a game-best 61.52 percent (8-of-13) from the floor and held Alverno College (3-22, 1-15 NACC) to just six points and 10 percent (2-of-20) from the floor.

- The Eagles came out of the break with a commanding 30 point (48-18) lead and didn't let up, scoring 25 points in the third quarter.

- It was a team victory for the Eagles at home, as all available players collected at least 16 minutes of action, pulled down at least one rebound, and dished out at least one assist.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Jayden Nortier led the Eagles with 14 points through 18 minutes on the floor. She went 4-for-4 from the charity stripe and was 5-for-7 from the floor on Saturday.

- Adrienne Kirch posted 15 points and added two steals

- Moli Haak added 13 points, only missing one shot (6-of-7) from the floor on Saturday.

- Molly Garrity was a bucket, collecting 11 points and going 3-for-4 from beyond the arc.

THE OPPOSITION
- Shiauna Nixon-Boyd led the Inferno with 13 points and five rebounds.

- Riley Spencer added 11 points and five rebounds through 26 minutes of action.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- It was a career-best day for Samantha Brady, as she collected 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the floor, pulled down eight rebounds, and dished out three assists. All career-high marks for the sophomore.

- Adrienne Kirch added a career-best 15 points, shooting 6-of-9 from the floor and making 2-of-3 from beyond the arc.

- The Eagles shot 55.2 percent (37-of-67) from the floor on Saturday. This is their second best shooting percentage of the 2023-24 season, behind a 55.3 percent (26-for-47) at Wisconsin Lutheran back on December 2, 2023.

- Edgewood College records their best conference record of 13-3 since the 2019-20 season where they went 18-2 and won the NACC Tournament.

- Edgewood College will host Concordia Wisconsin in the NACC Tournament Quarterfinals. Action is set for Wednesday, February 21 at 7:00 p.m. from the Todd Wehr Edgedome.
