MADISON – The Edgewood College Eagles men's tennis squad continued their season-opening homestand Friday afternoon. They hosted the Buena Vista Beavers in more nonconference action. The Eagles (1-3) put together a strong showing in top billing of both singles and doubles, earning a 5-4 victory over the Beavers (0-4).
HOW IT HAPPENED

Caden Nelson started his strong day alongside
Andrew Hoffmann. As the top doubles pairing, they won 8-5 while
Jon Olafsson and
Marek Woytasik claimed victory in second doubles by a similar decision.
Alton Robinson and
William Faley fell in third doubles to send the two teams into singles.
- Nelson put together a decisive 6-2, 6-2 performance as the no. 1 singles player. Olafsson won 6-2 in the first set of second singles, but a 7-5 loss in the second set forced a third set where the freshman won 6-2.
- Woytasik clinched the match for Edgewood College in third billing. After winning 7-5, he dropped a 6-1 second frame to send things to a third set. Woytasik would clinch victory for the Eagles in 6-2 fashion.
- Robinson,
Ethan Towne, and Faley wrapped up singles for Edgewood College. Robinson fell 6-0, 6-1 in fourth singles, while Towne and Faley fell by the same margin in fifth and sixth singles.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The victory was the first of the season for the Eagles.
- Edgewood College has won both outings against Buena Vista in program history.

The Eagles will conclude their season-opening homestand tomorrow. They will host the Northwestern (MN) Eagles with first serve scheduled for noon at the Powless Tennis Center.
