Eagles take down Beavers for first victory of season

MADISON – The Edgewood College Eagles men's tennis squad continued their season-opening homestand Friday afternoon. They hosted the Buena Vista Beavers in more nonconference action. The Eagles (1-3) put together a strong showing in top billing of both singles and doubles, earning a 5-4 victory over the Beavers (0-4).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Caden Nelson started his strong day alongside Andrew Hoffmann. As the top doubles pairing, they won 8-5 while Jon Olafsson and Marek Woytasik claimed victory in second doubles by a similar decision. Alton Robinson and William Faley fell in third doubles to send the two teams into singles.

- Nelson put together a decisive 6-2, 6-2 performance as the no. 1 singles player. Olafsson won 6-2 in the first set of second singles, but a 7-5 loss in the second set forced a third set where the freshman won 6-2.

- Woytasik clinched the match for Edgewood College in third billing. After winning 7-5, he dropped a 6-1 second frame to send things to a third set. Woytasik would clinch victory for the Eagles in 6-2 fashion.
