MADISON, Wis. – In a back-and-forth conference battle a dominating fourth quarter effort from the Edgewood College women's basketball team earned them a 56-48 victory over MSOE on Saturday. Three Eagles scored in double-digits on Saturday to help Edgewood College to remain undefeated in conference play after two NACC contests.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Heading into the final 10 minutes on Saturday afternoon MSOE (3-4, 1-1 NACC) led Edgewood College (4-4, 2-0 NACC) 41-38. Despite seven lead changes and four ties on Saturday, the Raiders led following three of four quarters in the conference battle. The Eagles played impressive lock-down defense in the fourth and final quarter and posted a game-best 46.2 percent (6-for-13) shooting from the floor to take home the victory.
- Edgewood College held the Raiders to just seven points on 1-of-14 shooting in the final 10 minutes. In addition, the Eagles attack opened the quarter on a 10-0 run through the first five minutes, highlighted by three-point makes from Jordan Carlquist and Kenzie Senffner.
- The Raiders narrowly led the Eagles 23-22 at halftime. It was a quiet first quarter, as MSOE led 7-0 until a three-point make from Jordan Carlquist with 4:03 on the clock.
- Both the Eagles and Raiders posted 14 points in a back-and-forth second quarter. Vivian Guerrero posted eight of the Eagles points in the second quarter.
- Three Eagles posted double-digit scoring on Saturday afternoon. Vivian Guerrero posted 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the floor. Kenzie Senffner added 12 points, while Jordan Carlquist posted 10 points for the Eagles.
- The Eagles rebound game was led by Vivian Guerrero (8), Kallie Norby (6), and Senffner (5).
- Jordan Carlquist shared the ball well, dishing out a team-high four assists.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood College opens conference play with a 2-0 record for the second-straight season.
- The Eagles lead the all-time series versus MSOE 53-13. Saturday's victory is the ninth-straight win over the Raiders.
THE OPPOSITION
- Mahima Chokshi led the Raiders with 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Chokshi went 5-for-5 from the charity stripe and 6-for-15 from the floor on Saturday.
- Dani Mendez posted an 11 point, 10 rebound double-double for MSOE.
- The Raiders best scoring run came at seven points with 5:28 in the first quarter.
