MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team locked down their first home and conference victory of the season with a final score of 92-53 over Alverno College. 62 points after halftime pushed the Eagles past the Inferno in their best shooting and highest scoring contest of the season. Kallie Norby and Vivian Guerrero finished the night in double-digit scoring figures.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (3-4, 1-0 NACC) led Alverno College (2-4, 0-1 NACC) 30-24 at halftime. The Eagles were patient in the first two quarters, shooting 40 percent (14-for-35) from the floor. The Inferno stuck close to the Eagles heels, scoring in double figures in both quarters.
- The Eagles turned on the jets in the third quarter, scoring 29 points and shooting 60 percent (12-of-20) from the floor in the quarter. The Eagles saw five points come from the charity stripe, where they went 5-for-5.
- A whopping 33 points in the fourth quarter sealed the victory for the Eagles. 11 different Eagles scored in the final quarter including three-point makes from Kenzie Senffner and Kylee Lonigro.
- Edgewood College dominated the rebounding game, pulling down 56 rebounds, 14 of which came on the offensive end of the ball.
- The Eagles impressed from close range on Wednesday night, recording 70 points in the paint.
- The Eagles dished out a season best 27 assists, led by Jordan Carlquist with six.
- Vivian Guerrero posted a 15 point, 12 rebound double-double. The senior added four blocks and three assists while shooting 7-for-8 from the floor.
- Norby was lights out for the Eagles, shooting 11-for-12 from the floor and scoring 22 points. The Hales Corners native added nine rebounds.
- Mady VandeStreek posted eight points in the victory.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood College shot a season-best 53.2 percent (41-of-77) from the floor on Wednesday.
- 17 different Eagles scored in the conference victory on Wednesday night. In addition, all 18 active Eagles participated.
- Newcomers Sophia Guerrero, Londyn Holewinski, Kylee Lonigro and Allie Mizwicki each scored their first points in an Eagles uniform on Wednesday night.
THE OPPOSITION
- Gemini Ventura led the Inferno with 18 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three blocks.
- Shiauna Nixon-Boyd added 17 points and pulled down eight rebounds.
