PLYMOUTH, Wis. - The Edgewood College Eagles men's basketball squad kicked off their 2024-25 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) slate Wednesday. They headed north to take on the Lakeland Muskies. The Eagles (2-4, 1-0 NACC) had their best offensive showing of the young season, taking down the Muskies (0-7, 0-2) 83-78.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lakeland held onto a 4-1 lead at 18:13, but Edgewood College slowly turned the tide. Down 10-9, the Eagles went on an 8-2 rally that wrapped up with a three-pointer from
AC Strok at 12:10 for a 17-12 advantage. Timely shooting would maintain the edge until a 9-2 burst from the Muskies featuring three threes pulled them to a 27-27 tie with five minutes left in the half. The squads would head to the lockers tied 37-37 after a late Lakeland three.

Danny Mulcare three at 19:34 set the tone for the second half. They would control the first five minutes on a 13-6 stretch to grab a 50-43 lead. After the Muskies closed within 57-54 at 11:57, the Eagles soared ahead on a 12-2 burst that wrapped up with a three-pointer from
Trey Traeder followed by a layup from Traeder at 7:06 to hold onto a 69-56 advantage.
- Lakeland chipped away at their deficit, closing within 77-73 with 1:36 left in the game. Edgewood College would put the Muskies away with 6-of-7 free throw shooting in the final moments to clinch a victory in their NACC opener.
- Five players from the Eagles finished with double-digit scoring. Traeder paced the group with 17 points, shooting 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.

Hunter Hardyman tallied 13 point with 10 in the first half.

Drew Houtakker played a key role in the victory. He recorded eight points, nine rebounds, and four assists.

Matt Kirk earned 14 points, including 5-of-6 shooting from the field.

Trent Tousana and
Payton Bowser each scored 10 points. Tousana added three assists and a steal.
- Edgewood College shot 50 (29-of-58) percent from the field and 40 (10-of-25) percent beyond the arc.
- Tim Ward earned the lone double-double of the evening with 18 points and 10 rebounds, pacing Lakeland.
- Isaiah Hammond played well in the defeat with 17 points and eight rebounds.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The 83 points is the most the Eagles have scored in the 2024-25 season and the high watermark dating back to January 3.
- Hardyman's 13 points and Kirk's 14 were both personal bests at Edgewood College.
- Traeder's 17 points is a season high.
- The Eagles have won three in a row against the Muskies.
