MADISON - The Edgewood College Eagles men's basketball squad kicked off a three-game homestand at the Todd Wehr Edgedome. They faced off with the Rockford Regents in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) action. The Regents (6-2, 2-1 NACC) dominated the boards on route to a 77-62 victory over the Eagles (2-6, 1-2).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the two teams combined for seven points in the first five minutes, a three-pointer from
Danny Mulcare put Edgewood College ahead 8-4 at 14:32. The Eagles nursed their four-point edge, but a 7-2 run pushed Rockford ahead 15-14 at 10:22.
- A 6-1 stretch had Edgewood College ahead 20-16 at 7:49. The Regents would score nine unanswered to lead 25-20 at 4:34, but the Eagles battled back to a 25-25 draw at 3:52. Rockford dominated the rest of the half, heading into the locker room on a 10-1 sprint and ahead 35-26.

- Edgewood College started the second half hot, cutting the advantage down to 41-37 at 15:38 after an 11-6 stretch. Rockford would pull away over the next 7:21, rolling ahead on a 20-6 explosion to lead 61-43 at 8:13. Rockford led by as much as 23 points over the remainder of the half as they handed the Eagles a conference defeat.

- The Regents had a decisive 49-to-25 edge in rebounds. They outshot Edgewood College 44.9-to-41.8 percent from the field.

- Micah Swanson paced all players with 17 points. He also grabbed nine rebounds.

- Noody Lacey and Malik Marshall each tallied 13 points. Lacey earned a pair of steals and Marshall two assists.

- DeVon Oregon earned four assists and Matthew Elliott 11 rebounds.

Hunter Hardyman each scored 12 points. Houtakker added three assists and Hardyman two steals.

- Mulcare scored 11 points and grabbed four rebounds.

Matt Kirk earned seven pounds and a team-high six rebounds.

- Kirk's six rebounds were a personal best as an Eagle.

Edgewood College will return to action Saturday at the Edgedome. They will face off with the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons in more conference action. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
