Record breaking three-point shooting lifts Eagles past Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa – 14 three-pointers and a 26 point fourth quarter gave Edgewood College Women's Basketball their second win of the season at Dubuque. The Eagles hung tough with the Spartans earning a 75-70 victory on Saturday afternoon. Kenzie Senffner and Jordan Carlquist both posted 17 points in the victory, while Vivian Guerrero notched her third double-double of the season.  

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (2-4) entered the fourth quarter with a 10 point lead on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles holding Dubuque (1-4) to just nine points after halftime.

- Both the Eagles and Spartans shot well down the stretch, recording above 50 percent shooting. Dubuque took a two-point lead (63-61) with just 2:52 remaining in the contest before Senffner recorded two three-point makes in the final minutes to lift the Eagles to victory. In the final minutes the Eagles outshot the Spartans 14-7.

- Edgewood College led Dubuque 33-30 into halftime.

- Edgewood College outscored Dubuque in all but one quarter on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles recorded 20 points in the first quarter to lead by four points after 10 minutes of action.

- Jordan Carlquist posted her best scoring mark in an Eagle uniform with 17 points on Saturday. The graduate student went 6-for-11 from the floor and 3-for-5 from beyond the arc.

- Senffner tied her career-best mark for points with 17 in the non-conference battle. The senior recorded all but two points from three-point shooting. Senffner went 5-for-10 from beyond the arc. She added five rebounds and five assists.

- Guerrero did a bit of everything, posting 13 points, pulling down 12 rebounds and dishing out five assists.

- Kallie Norby pulled down nine rebounds on the afternoon.

- The Eagles never shot below 40 percent from the floor in any quarter on Saturday.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles recorded a program best 14 three-point field goals made on Saturday afternoon. The previous best mark of 13 was recorded in 2022 (at Lakeland) and 2018 ( at Rockford). The mark also goes down as some of the best non-conference shooting from beyond the arc in program history.

- 48.1 percent shooting (25-of-52) is the best by the Eagles so far this season.

THE OPPOSITION
- Morgan Hawkins recorded an 18 point, 10 rebound double-double to lead the Spartans.

- Samantha McDonald joined Hawkins in double-digit scoring with 16 points.

- Mia Miller dished out a team-high 6 assists.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will host Alverno College in their home and NACC opener on Wednesday, December 4. Action is set for 7:00 p.m. from the Todd Wehr Edgedome.
