BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team faced their third nationally ranked opponent of the season in Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday. The Eagles fell 88-57 to the No. 10 ranked Titans. Jessie Carlquist led the Eagles scoring effort.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Illinois Wesleyan (3-0) posted 20 or more points in each quarter on Saturday afternoon to remain undefeated on the season.
- The Titans took advantage of strong three-point shooting in the second quarter to take a confident 48-24 lead into halftime.
- Turnovers proved to be the different on Saturday, as the Titans recorded a whopping 42 points on turnovers. Edgewood College turned the ball over on 30 occasions, 21 of which were steals from Illinois Wesleyan.
- Edgewood College (1-4) shot 40 percent (22-for-55) on the afternoon. The Eagles best scoring effort came in the fourth quarter, where they notched 18 points.
- Nine different Eagles scored in the non-conference battle on Saturday.
- Jessie Carlquist posted 11 points, her best in an Eagle uniform. The graduate student went 3-for-4 from three-point range on Saturday.
- Mady VandeStreek recorded a career-best nine points and five rebounds for the Eagles.
- Adrienne Kirch added eight points and three rebounds.
- Vivian Guerrero posted a team-best nine rebounds and two blocks on the afternoon.
- Taylor Wollin dished out a career-best three assists.
THE OPPOSITION
- Four Titans scored in double-digits on Saturday. Sawyer White and Ava Bardic led the way with 16 points each. Lauren Huber wasn't far behind with 14 points. Mallory Powers posted 12 points in the victory.
- Powers and Huber led the Illinois Wesleyan rebounding effort with nine and seven rebounds, respectively.
- White posted seven of the Titans 21 steals.
