Eagles fall at No. 2 Wartburg College

WAVERLY, Iowa – The Edgewood College women's basketball team faced their second ranked opponent of the season, falling at No. 2 Wartburg College on Tuesday. The Eagles struggled to slow down the Knights, falling 74-35 in the non-conference battle.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wartburg College (4-0) posted a dominant first quarter performance, leading 19-7 after 10 minutes of action. Despite an early three-point make from Jordan Carlquist, the Eagles only shot 18.18 percent (2-of-11) in the opening quarter. The Knights responded by shooting 45 percent (9-of-20) from the floor in the opening 10 minutes.

- The Knights continued to pour on the points in the second quarter, scoring 20 and holding Edgewood College (1-3) to just nine points. Wartburg held Edgewood College off the scoreboard for the first half of the second quarter, as a layup from Vivian Guerrero at 5:30 was the first Eagle scoring of second period.

- 11 points out of halftime proved to be the best 10 minute stretch for the Eagles. Vivian Guerrero scored six of the Eagles points in the third quarter.

- Turnovers proved to be a key factor in the contest, as Edgewood College gave up the ball on 27 occasions and the Knights scored 25 points off turnovers.

- The Knights limited the Eagles to just 29.4 percent (15-of-51) shooting from the floor on Tuesday.

- Vivian Guerrero posted 10 points, pulled down nine rebounds, dished out three assists and recorded two steals for the Eagles.

- Jordan Carlquist posted six points in the non-conference battle.

- Kenzie Senffner pulled down seven rebounds and dished out three assists.

- Nine different Eagles scored on Tuesday evening.

THE OPPOSITION
- Sara Faber led the No. 2 Knights with 21 points, shooting 8-of-16 from the floor and recording two makes from beyond the arc.

- Lauren Woeste did a bit of everything, recording 14 points, pulling down 11 rebounds and dishing out three assists.

- Jaedon Murphy and Lauren Golinghorst each posted 10 points in the victory.

- Edgewood College will travel to Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday. Action is set for 1:00 p.m. from Bloomington, Illinois.
