ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team wrapped up play at the Hyatt Place Tournament on Saturday facing host Augustana College. The Vikings recorded 20 plus scoring in the second and fourth quarter to defeat the Eagles 73-47.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (1-2) hung tough with the Vikings through the first quarter, tying the contest a seven a piece via a three-point make from Jayden Nortier with just four minutes remaining. Augustana College (1-2) went on a 7-2 run to end the first quarter and take a 14-9 lead.
- The Vikings took a 14 point lead at halftime on the back of a 21 point (35-21) second quarter. Augustana rode a 12-6 run into the break.
- Edgewood College bounced back in the third quarter, matching the Vikings scoring efforts with 14 points.
- 24 points in the fourth quarter gave Augustana the victory. The Vikings best lead of the contest came at 28 points (73-45) with just 45 seconds remaining.
- Vivian Guerrero led the Eagles with a 15 point, 10 rebound double-double. The senior added two blocks and two steals on the afternoon.
- Senffner posted nine points and pulled down four rebounds.
- Audrey Erickson led Augustana with 15 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 blocks.
- Carly Stone posted 13 points for the Vikings.
- The Vikings went 11-for-36 from beyond the arc on Saturday.
- Augustana posted 55 rebounds on Saturday afternoon, 18 coming on the offensive side of the ball. Edgewood College pulled down 41 rebounds on the afternoon.
