VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's soccer team wrapped up the non-conference portion of their schedule with a 1-0 win over Grinnell College. Riley Haertle netted her first collegiate goal in the second half to win the contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (8-3-1) led Grinnell College (5-4-1) Saturday afternoon with seven shots on goal. Despite putting four shots on goal in the first half of action, the Eagles and Pioneers went into halftime scoreless.
- With 68:59 on the clock, Haertle launched the ball over the Grinnell goalkeepers head to score her first goal as an Eagle. Emma Miller earned the assist on the goal, feeding Haertle in the box.
- Stephanie Kalscheuer led the Eagles early in the first half with two shots, both on goal.
- The Edgewood College defense limited the Grinnell attack, only allowing one shot from the Pioneers in the contest.
- Kamy Luecke, Greta Blau, Haertle Madi Johnson, and Daniella Reyes each recorded a shot on goal for Edgewood College.
- Hailey Corcoran earned the start in net for the Eagles, making one save. Grayson Allison collected six saves in goal for Grinnell.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood College now leads the all-time series versus Grinnell 2-1-1. The Eagles and Pioneers last met in 2019.
- The Eagles are now 4-1 on their home turf in 2024.
