Haertle records equalizer in draw to Marian on Senior Day

VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's soccer team played at Edgewood College Field for the final time in 2024 on Saturday. The Eagles earned a 1-1 draw with Marian University following a late goal from Riley Haertle in the second half. The women's soccer team celebrated the careers of seniors Hailey Corcoran, Reese Meszaros, Elizabeth Bowen, and Grace Johnson prior to kickoff.  

HOW IT HAPPENED
- With 20 minutes remaining in the second half, Edgewood College (9-5-4, 3-5-3 NACC) put the pressure on Marian University (7-8-4, 4-4-4 NACC). The Eagles took four of their 15 shots down the stretch.

- Haertle finally broke through for the Eagles in the 85th minute, as a pass from Emma Miller in the wings found Haertle foot perfectly.

- Edgewood College would settle for the draw on Saturday afternoon, despite having a few chances in the final minutes.

- It was a quite first half for both teams, as they combined for six shots in total.

- In the end, the Eagles outshot the Sabres 15-7 on the afternoon. Grace Johnson, Daniella Reyes, and Haertle each took three shots for Edgewood College.

- Hailey Corcoran recorded two saves in net for Edgewood College. Her counterpart Chelsea King made a whopping 12 saves to hold down the Sabres defense.

- Edgewood College leads the all-time series versus the Sabres 31-9-5.

- Edgewood College will travel St. Norbert College in their final regular season contest on Wednesday. Action is set for 7:00 p.m. from De Pere, Wis.
