RIPON, Wis. – The Edgewood College men's soccer team earned their 14th win of the season and fifth-straight in a 1-0 victory over Ripon on Monday evening. Brandon Kaup netted the lone goal in the non-conference battle. In the victory, freshman Connor Gage set the single season record for points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Just 3:24 into the second half, Kaup would give Edgewood College (14-1-2) their first and only goal of the non-conference battle. Kaup's goal, assisted by Gage and Jovan Dennison was the difference on Monday evening.
- Edgewood College totaled 22 shots on Monday, with Ripon College (11-6-0) only recording five shots in the contest.
- Kaup led the Eagles with six shots, two on goal. Cristian Torres-Gale added four shots, while Miguel Konde Gwo put both his shots on goal.
- Maverick Van Laanen recorded two saves in the non-conference battle. The junior posting his fourth-straight clean slate.
- Sam Jahnke recorded eight saves for the Red Hawks in net.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Gage breaks the single-season record for points, with 42 (15 goals, 12 assists). The freshman passes Mark Losby who recorded 41 points (15 goals, 11 assists) in the 2004 season.
- Gage is now tied with Brian Steinke (2000) for the most assists in a single-season, with 12.
- Edgewood College leads the all-time series versus Ripon 11-2-3.
- 14 wins are now tied for fourth best in program history. The wins total is the most since the 2000 season.
