LISLE, Ill. – History was made for the Edgewood College men's soccer team on Wednesday evening, as Edgewood College defeated Benedictine University 3-1 for their eighth-straight victory. The Edgewood College win streak goes down as the best in program history. Three different players from Edgewood College scored on Wednesday night in the Battle of the Eagles.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Just when it looked like Edgewood College (9-1-1, 4-0-0 NACC) and Benedictine (5-4-1, 3-2-0 NACC) would head into halftime scoreless, Cristian Torres-Gale found the back of the net. Torres-Gale's fifth goal of the season, assisted by Connor Gage would give Edgewood College a 1-0 lead into halftime.
- Riley Stevens and Joshua Kerr scored for Edgewood College in the second half to give Edgewood College a 3-0 lead with just 14 minutes remaining.
- Berto Castillo would score for Benedictine in the 80th minute, but it wasn't enough to upset Edgewood College on Wednesday night.
- Edgewood College only allowed five shots from Benedictine on Wednesday.
- Edgewood College took a 15-9 advantage on shots in the NACC battle.
