PLYMOUTH, Wis. – The Edgewood College men's soccer team proved they can earn a shutout win anywhere, as they took down Lakeland University on the road. The Eagle earned a 3-0 conference shutout on Saturday afternoon at Lakeland. Three different Eagles scored in the NACC victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (13-1,2, 8-0-1 NACC) wasted little time getting on the board on Saturday afternoon. Miguel Konde Gwo netted his 16th goal of the season in the 28th minute. Konde Gwo's first goal was assisted by Brandon Kaup to put the Eagles up 1-0 early.
- The Eagles would score twice on Lakeland University (4-12-0, 2-7-0 NACC) in the second half. Jack Knight scored his fourth goal of the season, assisted by Noah Hook to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.
- Joshua Kerr netted the Eagles third goal of the afternoon, assisted by Konde Gwo.
- 28 Eagles saw the field on Saturday afternoon. 10 Eagles recorded a shot in the contest.
- Edgewood College outshot Lakeland 19 to one on the afternoon. The Eagles put a whopping 13 shots on goal in the victory.
- Joshua Kerr led the Eagles with four shots, three on goal. Connor Thompson added four shots, three on goal.
- Maverick Van Laanen recorded 70 minutes in net for the Eagles. Spencer Hubbard came in for the final 20 minutes in goal.
- Matt English posted seven saves for the Muskies through 67 minutes in net.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Eight conference wins is the most for the Eagles since the 2009 season. 13 overall wins is the most since the 2000 season.
- Edgewood College leads the all-time series versus Lakeland 29-11-9. The Eagles last beat Lakeland in the 2019 season.
