VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's soccer team battled the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons following a two-hour weather delay on Saturday evening. The Eagles and Falcons stuck things out through the lightning and rain to complete the conference contest. The Falcons would go home with the 3-1 victory on Saturday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a lengthy lightning delay, Edgewood College (8-4-2, 2-4-1 NACC) came out of the gate with a purpose, taking seven shots in the first 26 minutes and putting five of them on target.
- No shots came to fruition in the first half for either team on Saturday. Brei Rozmariek wasted no time in the second half, scoring just 33 seconds into the final 45 minutes, assisted by Autumn Snow.
- Sheridan Dorge increased the Concordia Wisconsin (8-4-1, 6-1-1 NACC) lead to two goals in the 50th minute, assisted by Sabrina Moore.
- Kayla Kerkman scored her first goal of the season in the 54th minute to get the Eagles on the board. Kerkman's goal was assisted by Kamy Luecke and Megan Hines.
- Despite a strong defensive effort from the Eagles in the second half, Moore would net the final goal of the evening for the Falcons in the 87th minute.
- Concordia Wisconsin managed just three more shots on the evening (19-16) than Edgewood College. The Eagles put eight of their 16 shots on goal.
- Hailey Corcoran and Emma Swenson split time in net for Edgewood College on Saturday. Both goalkeepers managing two saves. Their counterpart Brooke Braga recorded seven saves in net for the Falcons.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles goal is the first they've scored against Concordia Wisconsin since the shortened 2020 season.
