OSHKOSH, WIS. – The Edgewood College Eagles had an eventful day as they traveled for their final road non-conference matches of the season. They squared off with UW-Oshkosh, ranked no. 7 in the latest AVCA poll, and Carthage. The Eagles (9-8) recorded their first victory over a Top Ten team since 2013 with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-19, 25-22) victory over the Titans (13-4), before going wire to wire for a 3-2 (18-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-17, 15-13) victory against the Firebirds (9-4) to earn their fifth straight victory.
MATCH ONE: EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 3, NO. 7 UW-OSHKOSH 0 (25-11, 25-19, 25-22)
- The Eagles set the tone for the match early. They launched ahead 15-4 as the Titans struggled to find their footing. Edgewood College recorded six blocks in the set and outhit UW-Oshkosh .214 to -.162.
- While the Titans carved out a 5-4 lead early in the second set, the Eagles once again took flight. Four kills in a row sparked a 9-1 run as Edgewood College held a commanding 13-6 lead. They would keep UW-Oshkosh at arm's length, matching point for point as they earned a 2-0 advantage in the match.
- Four in a row from the Titans to open the third frame forced an Eagles timeout. Edgewood College would return the favor with four points in a row to cause UW-Oshkosh to opt for a timeout. Momentum shifted to the Titans on an 8-1 rally in the middle of the frame as their offense found their footing with four kills. The Eagles would not be denied, exploding to the finish line with a ferocious 10-3 barrage to clinch a sweep of their nationally ranked foe.
- Edgewood College earned 15 blocks and held UW-Oshkosh to a -.036 hitting percentage.

Katie Borchert paced the Eagles with 10 kills and posted a .242 hitting percentage on 33 swings. Four other Edgewood College hitters tallied five kills.

Abbey Eivins contributed 14 assists.

Mia Hinkamper earned a team-high 19 digs, while
Cassidy Spies tacked on 12 digs.
- Lauren Grier led the Titans with six blocks, as did Abby Fregien with 19 digs.
MATCH TWO:EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 3, CARTHAGE 2 (18-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-17, 15-13)
- The Eagles' offense sputtered early as the Firebirds vaulted ahead on a 9-3 rally for a 12-5 lead. Edgewood College found some rhythm on office to trim the edge down to 14-11, but Carthage took off on a 7-1 burst to all but put the first set away.
- The Firebirds outhit the Eagles .419-to-.167 in the first frame.
- Edgewood College found success with their service game early in set two, three aces fueling a 7-3 start. Carthage fought back to an 8-8 draw with a 5-1 stretch. The Eagles found momentum through their offense, pulling away from the Firebirds on a 11-5 stretch for a 19-13 lead. Carthage would never recover as Edgewood College evened the set.
- The Eagles' offense soared while the Firebirds found themselves grounded to start the third set. Edgewood College led 9-2 off the back of four kills and four opposing errors. Carthage had the wind at their sails in the middle of the frame, going on a 12-1 sprint with five aces to flip the script and take a 17-14 lead. The Eagles' attack would even the set at 21-21 with a 4-1 run, but the Firebirds would respond in kind to take a 2-1 match lead.
- After being down 7-5, back-to-back aces followed by three blocks in a row propelled Edgewood College to eight straight points and a 13-7 lead. Carthage would stay hot on their heels with a 7-2 burst, inching within a point. The Eagles would cede no more ground, finishing the set on a 10-3 tear with eight kills and an ace to force a decisive fifth set.
- The squads were neck and neck throughout the tiebreaker set. Three points in a row would have Edgewood College up 8-5, but the Firebirds would grind out an 11-10 edge with a 6-2 sprint. Back-to-back points by both teams would have Carthage up 13-12, but mistakes followed by a game-ending Hoffmann kill would seal the victory for the Eagles.
- Hoffmann paced the Edgewood College offense. She swung for 13 kills on 30 attacks for a .367 hitting percentage and earned the double-double with 10 assists.

Cassidy Spies earned an 11-kill, 12-dig double-double.
Zoee Pond posted an eight-kill match as well.
- Falk continued her strong play at the net with five blocks.
- Eivins posted a 16-assist, seven-dig statline, while Hinkamper tallied 17 digs and seven assists.
- The Eagles outhit the Firebirds .199-to-.197. Edgewood College also recorded 10 blocks to their six.
- Three from Carthage posted double-digit kills. Liv Carel swung for a match-high 16 kills and claimed a double-double with 12 digs.
- Devinn Bell earned 43 assists. Jenna Damon anchored the back row with 21 digs.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The victory against no. 7 UW-Oshkosh was the program's first victory over a Top Ten ranked school since the 2013 season. They defeated no. 5 Christopher Newport on the road that year.
- Falk's 11 blocks tied the single match program record. She joins Mandie Armstrong atop the record books.
- The 15 blocks were a season-best as a team in the first match. The -.036 hitting percentage allowed was also a new best this season against the Titans
- Their 15 blocks against UW-Oshkosh also tied for third on the single match record books as a program.
- Falk's 1.28 blocks per set is good for sixth nationally in Division III.
- The Eagles have won back-to-back matches against Carthage.
- Edgewood College has won their last three five-set matches and five in a row overall.

The Eagles will return to the Todd Wehr Edgedome as Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play takes off in force with a three-match homestand. They will battle with the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks on Thursday in a rematch of their NACC Tournament Quarterfinal match last season. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
