Eagles defeat Muskies, remain unbeaten in NACC play

MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team locked down their fifth-straight victory with a final score of 75-58 over Lakeland University on Wednesday. The Eagles posted a balanced victory to remain a top the NACC at 7-0. Four Eagles scored in double figures on the evening, as Kallie Norby led the way with 24 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (8-8, 7-0 NACC) has played balanced basketball vs NACC opponents this season, and Wednesday evening was much of the same as they shot 48.3 percent (28-of-58) from the floor, pulled down 41 rebounds, dished out a whopping 23 assists, and recorded seven steals.

- The Eagles victory over Lakeland University (4-11, 2-4 NACC) didn't start as smoothly as it ended. The Muskies dominated the first quarter, leading 18-7 after 10 minutes of action. The Muskies shot a game-best 50 percent (8-of-16) from the floor in the first quarter and held the Eagles to four points for most of the period. 

- Edgewood College didn't waste any time in the second quarter, scoring 10-straight points and taking the lead for the first time with 1:53 left on the clock before halftime. The Eagles returned the favor, holding the Muskies to just seven points in the second quarter and leading 28-25 at the break.

- The Eagles wouldn't score less than 20 points in a quarter for the rest of the night. Edgewood College finally pulled away in the third quarter, shooting 56.25 percent (9-of-16) from the floor. The Eagles continued to pile on the points in the fourth quarter, scoring 27 and shooting a game-best 60 percent (9-of-15) from the floor.

- Vivian Guerrero impressed on all fronts on Wednesday, posting 15 rebounds, 14 points, and dishing out eight assists.

- Kallie Norby led the Eagles, tying her career high of 24 points. Norby connected on 11-of-16 from the floor.

- Jayden Nortier was consistent as ever, recording 15 points, pulling down four rebounds, and dishing out four assists.

- Kenzie Senffner added 10 points, six rebounds, and five assists.

THE OPPOSITION
- Alexis Johnson posted 15 points, shooting 6-of-10 from the floor. A.T. Bartlett and Jenna Caterino added 10 points each.

- Caterino pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. Kerstin Sauerbrei dished out five assists.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles continue to roll past NACC opponents and remain undefeated at 7-0. It continues to be their best conference start since the 2020-21 season when they went 8-0 before losing a NACC contest.

- Edgewood College improves to 31-40 all-time vs Lakeland. The Eagles have won the past nine-straight contest vs the Muskies.
