PLYMOUTH, WIS. – The Edgewood College Eagles hit the road for more Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) action Wednesday evening. They faced the Lakeland Muskies in a rematch of a triple overtime thriller at the Todd Wehr Edgedome earlier this season. The Eagles (8-9, 7-4 NACC) needed only regulation to claim a season sweep of the Muskies (5-11, 3-6) in 79-66 fashion.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College controlled the first four minutes of play, exploding offensively with a 16-9 advantage. The Muskies would cut down the lead to just a possession in a minute, but were unable to overtake the Eagles.
- Lakeland would battle back to a 27-27 tie at 5:22 with six unanswered points, but a key three pointer from
Trey Traeder would preserve the Edgewood College lead for the rest of the half as the two teams went into the locker rooms with the Eagles leading 38-34.
- Edgewood College took full advantage of Muskies mistakes in the first 20 minutes with a 10-to-2 advantage in points off turnovers.
- An 8-2 rally from Lakeland tied things up early in the second half at 42 apiece. The two squads would jockey for position for the first 12 minutes of the second frame, but neither side would grab onto more than a single-possession edge.
- The Eagles found the opportunity they needed at 8:05, a three-pointer from
Cade Ellingson giving them a 62-56 edge and putting Lakeland on the back foot. The beyond the arc shot played a key part in a 12-1 rally that launched Edgewood College to a 69-58 lead. With the Muskies unable to stop their momentum, the Eagles finished the night with the biggest lead of the night in the victory.
- Edgewood College shot 50 percent (15-of-30) from the field in the second 20 minutes.
- The Eagles bench proved critical in their success with a 16-to-5 gap in bench points.
- Ellingson led the four double-digit Eagles with 18 points while tacking on a pair of steals.

Drew Houtakker and Traeder tallied 16 and 15 points respectively.
Luke Cervelli was a force down low with 14 points and three blocks.

Dawson Hughes and
Danny Mulcare dominated the boards with eight and nine rebounds respectively.
- Cam Jaeger and Isaiah Hammond had strong showings in the loss. Jaeger finished with 20 points and 14 rebounds, while Hammond earned 14 points and 11 rebounds.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- With the victory, the Eagles have won more games in 2023-24 than they did last season with eight games remaining.
- Traeder is tied for fourth in the NACC with 2.3 three pointers per game.
- Edgewood College has won three straight games against Lakeland.
- Cervelli set a career best with three assists.
