MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team continued to roll in conference play, defeating MSOE 64-49 on Saturday. The Eagles improve to 6-0 to lead the conference. Four Eagles recorded double-digit shooting on Saturday, including a double-double from Kallie Norby.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In what proved to be a contest that relied on timely shooting and locked-in defense, Edgewood College (7-8, 6-0 NACC) came out on top behind strong bookending quarters. The Eagles came out hot in the first quarter, shooting a game-high 66.67 percent (10-for-15) and posting 23 percent on a strong MSOE (10-5, 4-2 NACC) defense.
- It was a defensive battle in the second quarter, as neither team was able to score more than 10 points going into halftime. The Raiders narrowly edged the Eagles scoring eight points, but Edgewood College maintained a 29-25 advantage going into the break.
- MSOE and Edgewood College traded the lead in a third quarter where both teams scored 16 points. Both teams shot the ball well, with the Eagles connecting on 50 percent (6-for-12) from the floor and the Raiders 42.86 percent (6-of-14). MSOE made up a lot of distance with two three point makes in the third quarter.
- The Eagles proved why they lead the NACC in the fourth quarter, in playing tough defense and shooting 54.55 percent (6-of-11) from the floor. Edgewood College held the Raiders to just eight points and a 15.38 percent (2-of-13) shooting mark in the final 10 minutes.
- Norby led the Eagles with her fourth double-double of the season. She posted 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor and pulled down a career-best 16 rebounds.
- Kenzie Senffner posted 15 points, making her mark from beyond the arc with four three-point makes. Jayden Nortier recorded 13 poipnts on 5-of-9 shooting.
- Grace Vesperman recorded a career-high 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor and pulled down five rebounds. Vesperman also locked down the Raiders as an important part of the Edgewood College defense collecting two steals.
THE OPPOSITION
- Mahima Chokshi led the Raiders with 12 points. Halena Hill (11 points) and Dani Mendez (10 points) both scored in double-digits.
- Mendez pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Raekyiah Williams added six rebounds.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood College posted their fourth contest of the season with a shooting percentage of 50 percent or higher.
- The Eagles undefeated and 6-0 start to conference play is their best since the 2020-21 season. During the 2020-21 season, Edgewood College would finish 9-1 in conference and go on to be named NACC North Division Co-Champions.
