Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Six in a row for the Eagles as they sweep past Warriors

WAUWATOSA, Wis. – The Edgewood College Eagles women's volleyball squad continued their six-match road trip Saturday. They faced down a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) foe in the Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors. The Eagles (10-4, 4-0 NACC) outlasted the Warriors (7-9, 3-1) in a 29-27 first set on route to a 3-0 (29-27, 25-13, 25-23) victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two squads exchanged haymakers early. Wisconsin Lutheran kicked things off with a 7-1 rally, but a 7-3 answer from the Eagles featuring three aces from the visitors left things tied at 10. An 8-2 sprint appeared to have the wind at Edgewood College's backs late, but five unanswered kills from the Warriors left them ahead 22-21. Three straight points put the Eagles on the brink of the first match point, though back-to-back points from the hosts forced extras. A 5-2 run put Wisconsin Lutheran on the precipice of a first set victory. A key block from Ashley Bruehlman and Hannah Clark sparked a 3-0 rally to close things out in Edgewood College's favor.

- Errors and blocks put the Eagles in a favorable 8-3 position to kick off the second frame. A 6-2 run kept the Warriors around for a little while, but an 8-0 barrage featuring back-to-back aces from Abbey Eivins left Edgewood College in a commanding position on their way to a 2-0 match lead.

- A 7-2 Eagles lead in the third set was counteracted by a 9-3 response from Wisconsin Lutheran, helped along by four straight Edgewood College errors. The squads traded two-point leads until the Warriors put together three unanswered with a pair of blocks and an ace for a 19-16 advantage. A 6-0 response put momentum back in the Eagles' court, featuring two blocks and three aces. Wisconsin Lutheran would get dangerously close to extra points, trailing only 24-23 off the back of a 4-2 run, but a Bruehlman kill sealed the set and match.

- Edgewood College won the hitting battle .186 to .000 and held a key 14-to-6 advantage in service aces.

- Abigail Hoffmann did a little bit of everything. She tallied five kills, five aces, three blocks, 10 assists, and six digs.

- Abbey Falk led the squad with seven blocks, while Katie Borchert headlined the offense with eight kills.

- Eivins finished with 12 assists and Jennacy Wille 13 digs. Clark tacked on a trio of blocks in the effort.

- Kylee Gnabasik earned 10 digs and four aces in the loss for the Warriors.

- The victory was the sixth in a row for the Eagles and their first 3-0 sweep in the streak.
