FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's tennis team posted their fourth 9-0 victory of the season with a win over Marian on Friday afternoon. Edgewood College made quick work of the NACC foe with three convincing doubles wins and six straight-set wins in singles play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (6-3, 6-1 NACC) began the afternoon with three statement wins in doubles play. The Eagles dropped just five games in the doubles wins, which featured an 8-0 victory by the No. 3 doubles team of Madelyn Connaughty and Ellie Murphy.
- The No. 1 duo of Cecile Fuchs and Evelyn Taylor rolled to the 8-1 win. Jewel Lindwall and Maddy Coopmans battled it out with Hazel Duchemin and Abby Okon in the No. 2 slot, earning the 8-4 victory.
- Edgewood College continued their dominance in singles play completing the sweep of Marian (0-8, 0-6 NACC). Fuchs, Lindwall, Taylor, Murphy, and Coopmans all added their second wins of the day for the Eagles.
- The Five Eagles of Fuchs (No. 1), Lindwall (No. 2), Murphy (No. 4), Coopmans (No. 5), and Christina Ekkela (No. 6) all earned 6-0, 6-0 dominant wins on the afternoon.
- Taylor wrapped things up with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- All four the Eagles 9-0 wins have come in NACC play this season. Edgewood College has won 57-of-63 matches in their seven NACC duals this season.
