MILWAUKEE, Wis. – On Saturday afternoon the Eagles offense exploded for seven goals and routed Alverno College 7-2. Five different Eagles found the back of the net in the conference victory, led by Greta Blau and Rylee Brotz.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was the highest scoring game of the season as Edgewood College (4-3-2, 2-2-0) earned their second-straight win in dominant fashion. The Eagles were dominant in the first half of competition, as the offense scored four goals.
- Blau was responsible for the first Eagles goal. The sophomore struck first in the 10th minute, assisted by Reese Meszaros. Rylee Brotz added the second goal, assisted by Reaghan Spencer, in the 13th minute to put the Eagles up 2-0. It was back-to-back goals for Brotz, as she netted the Eagles third goal in the 27th minute, assisted by Kayla Kerkman.
- Alverno (0-6-0, 0-4-0 NACC) managed to find the back of the net before the end of the first 45 minutes. Alianna Herrera scored what would be her first of two goals on the afternoon.
- Jessi Crivello went down in the books as the Eagles third goal scorer, as she netted the fourth goal with 31:06 on the clock. Crivello was assisted by Kayla Kerkman as the Eagles took a 4-1 lead into halftime.
- Edgewood College didn't let up after the break, scoring three-straight goals and taking a 7-1 lead. Reese Meszaros got in on the action, scoring in the 48th minute assisted by Blau. Just over a minute later Blau would net her third goal, securing the hat trick. The Eagles sixth goal was assisted by Leah Doucette. Marley Satran would put the cherry on top of a great afternoon, scoring in the 56th minute.
- Herrera would find the back of the net again for the Inferno on Saturday, making the final score 7-2.
- Edgewood College outshot the Inferno 39-2 on the afternoon, putting a whopping 24 shots on goal. 10 different Eagles took a shot on goal, led by Meszaros with six.
- Emily Anguiano was busy in net for Alverno. She recorded 14 saves on the afternoon.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Meszaros and Crivello netted their first goal in an Eagle uniform in the conference victory.
- Blau's five points in the contest ties her career-best performance.
- Edgewood College now lead the all-time series vs Alverno 20-0.
