MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College men's soccer team suffered a 5-1 setback against UW-Eau Claire on Saturday afternoon. On a surprisingly warm late September Saturday, the Eagles freshman Kevin Joyce managed to find the back of the net for his first career goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- All six goals in the contest were scored in the first 45 minutes, as UW-Eau Claire (5-1-2) took an early 2-0 lead thanks to two early goal from Nathan Donovan. He would add the third goal for the Blugold for the hat trick in the 27th minute. Not long after, Noah Malcook found the back of the net twice for the 5-0 advantage. Malcook's second goal came via penalty kick in the 29th minute.
- Kevin Joyce gave the Eagles their only goal of the afternoon, scoring in the 42nd minute, assisted by Jack Douma.
- UW-Eau Claire outshot the Eagles 25-6 in the contest. The Eagles had three shots on goal on the afternoon, compared to 12 from the Blugold.
- Ty Bienema recorded four saves in net for the Eagles after taking over for Maverick Van Laanen who made three early saves in the first 13 minutes.
