Konde Gwo’s Bicycle Kick Goal Leads Eagles past Buena Vista

VERONA, Wis. – The first ever meeting between Buena Vista and Edgewood College men's soccer did not disappoint. The Eagles displayed a strong defense but an even strong attack on Monday afternoon, defeating Buena Vista 3-1. Miguel Konde Gwo led the Eagles attach with two goals, including a bicycle kick thriller in the second half.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (5-2-1) got on the board in the 9th minute. The Eagles got off to a fast start and controlled possession in the early goings. Noah Hook took advantage, scoring first and giving the Eagles a 1-0 advantage.

- Despite a fast start, Buena Vista found a momentary hole in the Eagles defense, scoring in the 37th minute. Connor Williams found the back of the net, assisted by Sota Usui and Caleb Swanson.

- The Eagles and Beavers went into halftime with a 1-1 tie.

- Edgewood College turned it on in the second half of action. Miguel Konde Gwo found the back of the net twice. Konde Gwo's first goal came in the 60th minute, assisted by Hook. The third and final goal of the afternoon came in the 66th minute, as Austin Hauser found the foot of Konde Gwo on a free kick. Konde Gwo netted a thrilling bicycle kick goal.

- Edgewood College outshot Buena Vista 24-6 on the afternoon. Six different Eagles put a shot on goal.

- 29 Eagles recorded time on the field in the Eagles victory, including all three goalkeepers.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles wrapped up a seven game homestand Monday, in which they finished with a 5-1-1 record.

- Edgewood College's fifth victory is the most wins in a season since 2019.

- Edgewood College will return to conference action on Wednesday at Rockford. Action is set for 2:00 p.m. from Rockford, Ill.
