Raiders deal Eagles first NACC defeat

VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College men's soccer team came into Saturday afternoon not having lost a game in home action in 2023. MSOE broke the Eagles streak, winning 4-1 from Edgewood College Field at Reddan Park. The Eagles are now 4-2-1 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Edgewood College (4-2-1, 1-1-0 NACC) defense struggled to hold back the MSOE (4-1-1, 1-0-0 NACC) attack. The Raiders scored two of their goals before halftime. The first coming from Freddy Comparato in the 24th minute. Nico Picha added the Raiders second goal, assisted by Tanner Cellio.

- MSOE added onto their 2-0 lead after the break. The Raiders tacked on two more goals by Cellio and Michael Rohrman, taking a 4-0 lead into the final 18 minutes of action.

- Jonathan Alfaro finally got the Eagles on the board, converting a penalty kick in the 84th minute.

- Despite scoring in the second half of action, the Eagles attack had most of its chances in the first half, taking six shots compared to just three after the break. Miguel Konde Gwo led the Eagles with three shots, one bouncing off the top of the woodwork in the first half.

- Maverick Van Laanen recorded three saves in net for the Eagles.
