Eagles defeat Warriors 8-1 for third-straight victory

MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Eagles continued their weekend at home on a perfect Sunday morning at Quann Park. They hosted Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) foe Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors in a rematch of last year's NACC Tournament Semifinals. The Eagles (3-2, 3-0 NACC) took down the Warriors (1-3, 1-1) in 8-1 fashion as they won their third straight match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College claimed all three match points in doubles. Cecile Fuchs and Evelyn Taylor won 8-3 as the top doubles duo, while Jewel Lindwall and Maddy Coopmans added on another point in 8-1 fashion in second doubles billing. Ellie Murphy and Madelyn Connaughty impressed as the final doubles pair with a perfect 8-0 victory.

- Fuchs kicked off singles in 6-0, 6-0 fashion as the no. 1 singles player. Jewel Lindwall clinched the match in second singles with a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
 
- The Eagles cleaned out fourth through six singles. Taylor won 6-0, 6-1 in fourth billing, Coopmans 6-0, 6-2 in the fifth slot, and Christina Ekkela 6-0, 6-2 as the sixth player.

- Murphy found herself in an intense thriller in no. 3 singles. After she won 6-4 in the first set, Ali Schmidt forced a tiebreaker with a 6-3 victory. Schmidt would go onto win the tiebreaker 10-7 to record Wisconsin Lutheran's lone point.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The victory was Edgewood College's third straight, all over NACC foes

- Fuchs has won back-to-back no. 1 singles matches in 6-0, 6-0 fashion.

- The Eagles hold a 21-2 lead in the all-time series over the Warriors and have won 16 straight.

UP NEXT
Edgewood College hits the road for a pair of NACC matchups next week. They will travel up to De Pere, Wis. to face the St. Norbert Green Knights Friday with first serve scheduled for 6:00 p.m. The Eagles have a 7-5 lead in the all-time series over the Green Knights and have won five straight.
