RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Edgewood College Eagles baseball squad entered another Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) doubleheader Saturday. They played at the Concordia Chicago Cougars. After a late comeback fell short in a 7-5 loss in the first tilt, the Eagles (14-9, 7-3 NACC) fired on all cylinders in a 9-2 victory over the Cougars (13-12, 5-5 NACC) game two.
GAME ONE: CONCORDIA CHICAGO 7, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 5
- The Eagles got on the board early with a one-run single to left field from
Kyle Prindle in the first. Edgewood College would not score again until the eighth inning.
- The Cougars pieced together enough leads to prevent Edgewood College's late comeback attempt. A single to second base in the third and a single to left field in the sixth gave Concordia Chicago a 2-1 lead.
- The seventh inning would prove to be the Eagles' downfall. A ground-rule double kicked things off in the seventh, while a double to left and an error by the pitcher tacked on two more. A double to left center followed by a two-run shot over the left field fence left the Cougars up 7-1.

Joseph Kalafut would reply with a two-run home run to center field in the eighth. Prindle singled in two more with the bases loaded in the ninth. The tying runs were on second and third for Edgewood College with two outs, but they were unable to capitalize as Concordia Chicago held their ground.
- Prindle got on base at will in the affair. He hit four-of-four with a walk while batting in three RBIs.
- The Cougars pitching staff combined to strike out 11 Eagles in the tilt.
GAME TWO: EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 9, CONCORDIA CHICAGO 2
- Prindle picked off where he left off game one, getting on base successfully his sixth time in a row with a double up the middle to score Kalafut. A Cougars home run left things tied 1-1 after one.
- The Eagles landed a decisive blow in the third inning. Prindle reached base safely a seventh time in a row with a walk, bringing in a run with the bases loaded.
Jacob Carney was hit by a pitch to tack on another with the bases loaded. Doubles by both
Brooks Kalscheur and
Ryan Ambrosy each scored two as Edgewood College held a 7-1 advantage after three.

Jackson DeChristina would single in a run to right field in the fifth, while
Kyle Sagan launched one past the center field fence to wrap up the scoring for the Eagles in the sixth. Concordia Chicago would get one last swing in with a home run to right field in the eighth.

Aidan Williams tossed a gem of a game. He threw a complete game with two earned runs allowed and 10 strikeouts.
- Seven Eagles recorded hits. Kalafut was walked three times.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Kalatfut broke the career home run record with his home run in game one. The record was previously held by Tim Berry who played from 2009-10.
- He also broke the career walks mark with his four on the day. The record was previously held by Matt Salzberry (1999-02)
- Kalafut leads the NACC with 25 walks.
Connor Goodwin leads the NACC with 27 stolen bases and is four away from breaking the season record.
- The Cougars lead the all-time series 28-9, but Edgewood College has won three of the last five outings.
UP NEXT
The Eagles return home to Stampfl Field Tuesday for another NACC doubleheader. They host the MSOE Raiders with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Edgewood College holds a 44-22 all-time advantage, by the Raiders have won three straight in the series.
