VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College Eagles baseball squad hosted a critical Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) doubleheader at Stampfl Field Tuesday. They battled with the Dominican Stars. The Eagles (13-7, 6-2 NACC) put the winning runs across home early in a 9-3 affair, but grinded out a 7-6 walk off win over the Stars (12-10, 5-3) in game two.
GAME ONE: EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 9, DOMINICAN 3
- The Stars struck first with small ball as they found gaps in the Eagles defense. A single to right field put the first run of the day on the board.
Kyle Sagan replied by tying the game in the bottom of the first with a home run to center field.
- A five-run second mostly put things to bed.
Daniel Bentivegna hit a sacrifice fly to left field to send one home. Edgewood College got bases loaded and took advantage, a
Connor Goodwin single to right tallying another and
Joseph Kalafut getting hit by a pitch making it 4-1. A two-run
Kyle Prindle single up the middle wrapped up the scoring in the inning.
- The squads would settle in for the next few innings but exchanged final blows in the seventh. A single up the middle followed by a sacrifice fly to left field finalized Dominican's runs, while Sagan doubled and Kalafut sent a shot over the right field fence to settle things at 9-3.
- Sagan continued his hot streak, hitting three-of-five with two RBIs and a walk. Kalafut hit two-of-three with a walk and three RBIs.

Kyle Jungers earned the win in the start, tossing eight strikeouts in seven innings.
Conner Dunfee and
Leo Stone each tossed scoreless innings and threw one and two strikeouts respectively.
GAME TWO: EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 7, DOMINICAN 6
- The Eagles got into trouble with errors early. After the Stars continued their early small ball at-bats with a single down the right field line tallying one in the first, an error by
Cooper Holewinski in center field allowed the Dominican to send three runners home in the second.
Ryan Ambrosy sent in a run off a fielder's choice, while a Sagan single left things at 4-2.
- A home run to right center left the Stars up 6-2 after the top of the fifth.
Kyle Prindle singled in a run to left field in the bottom of the fifth. Edgewood College would score a run in each of the last five innings of play.
- An error by the pitcher allowed Holewinski to score in the sixth. Prindle scored one with a fielder's choice in the seventh, while
Kyle Sagan doubled in a run to right field to tie things up in the eighth. Dunfee threw a gem of a ninth to force in Dominican's star closer in the bottom of the frame. The Eagles got after Joey Haslam, loading the bases with no outs after a flubbed bunt left Goodwin safe on third. Holewinski found redemption in the end, getting to a full 3-2 count before sending a shot to center field that fell just shy of a grand slam to claim the walk off.

Aidan Williams was strong in the start, throwing 4.2 innings with only two earned runs and three strikeouts. The staff combined for eight strikeouts, with Dunfee earning the victory.
- Holewinski hit three-of-five with a run and an RBI. Sagan continued to be white hot, hitting three-of-four with a pair of RBIs and a walk. Goodwin was a consistent force on the bases, swinging three-of-four.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood College left 20 men on bases between both games in the doubleheader.
- The Eagles now hold a 23-14 series lead over the Stars with the sweep.
- Edgewood College has now won five in a row and seven of eight.

The Eagles hit pause on conference action for a home tilt Wednesday. They host the Beloit Buccaneers at Stampfl Field for a 5:00 p.m. start Wednesday. Edgewood College holds a 3-2 series lead over Beloit, including a victory in 2022.
