HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Edgewood College women's tennis team closed out their spring break trip in facing The College of Wooster. The Fighting Scots earned the 9-0 victory and snapped the Eagles six-match winning streak, despite three tiebreak matches.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (10-5) fell behind 3-0 against The College of Wooster (6-2) after doubles play, losing 8-2 in the No. 3 slot and 8-4 in the No. 1 slot.
- Jewel Lindwall and Maddy Coopmans at No. 1 doubles came the closest to a win, falling 8-7 (7-2).
- In singles play, Cecile Fuchs at No. 1 singles and Christina Ekkela in the No. 6 slot came closest to victory. Fuchs bounced back after a rough first set for a match tiebreaker, before falling to Otilia Oita 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8). Ekkela also won her second set by a score of 6-3 before falling 10-4 in the tiebreak.
- Evelyn Taylor put up a good battle at the No. 3 singles position. Taylor dropped her match 6-2, 6-4 to Kim Nguyen.
UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will return home and face Wartburg College on Thursday, April 6. Action is set for 4:00 p.m. from Quann Park.
