Norby’s Career Game Leads Eagles Past Sabres

MADISON, Wis. - Aided by four double-digit scorers, career-high scoring from Kallie Norby and a double-double from Vivian Guerrero, the Edgewood College women's basketball team earned their ninth-straight and 11th NACC win of the season. The Eagles earned the 81-64 conference victory over Marian University on Saturday night behind a 48.6 percent shooting effort and dominant rebounding.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (14-7, 11-3 NACC) came out of the gate fast and never looked back, scoring 23 points in the first period and holding Marian University (6-15, 5-10 NACC) to just 13 points and their lowest shooting percentage (22.2) of the contest. In addition, the Eagles defense held the Sabres to zero percent (0-for-11) shooting from beyond the arc in the first quarter. The Eagles biggest lead came to start the game, as the 8-0 run came in the first two minutes. Norby was dominant for the Eagles in the first ten minutes, scoring 10 points.

- The Eagles continued to roll in the second quarter, scoring an addition 23 points before halftime. The Sabres tried to close the gap, scoring 18 points. Edgewood College went 4-for-4 from the charity stripe in the second quarter and took a 15-point (46-31) lead into halftime.

- Edgewood College remained consistent out of the locker room, adding two more double-digit quarters of 17 and 18 points. The Eagles largest lead came with 3:12 on the clock in the fourth quarter. A confident three-point make from Norby solidified a 24-point (81-57) advantage.

- Norby led the Eagles with a career-high 23 points on 11-of-15 shooting from the floor. Guerrero continued to play to form, collecting a game-high 17 rebounds and 10 points for her 10th double-double of the season. Paige Banks added 14 points and dished out a career-best eight assists. Kenzie Senffner added 10 points on 3-of-6 shooting from the floor and two makes from beyond the arc. Senffner added five rebounds and four assists.

- The Eagles best shooting came in the first quarter, as they connected on 10-of-15 from the floor (66.7 percent) and 2-of-3 (66.7 percent) from beyond the arc. Overall, the Eagles shot 48.6 percent (34-of-70) on the afternoon, and went 7-for-7 from the charity stripe.

- Rebounding continued to be a dominant statistic for the Eagles, as they recorded 52 total, in comparison to 32 from the Sabres. 40 of the Eagles rebounds came on the defensive side of the ball.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Guerrero now owns four-straight double-doubles, all coming in the last 10 days. In the last nine contests, she owns a double-double in seven.

- Edgewood College finished the game with 25 assists, their second most of the season behind their 31 assists in a win over Alverno.

- The Eagles lead the all-time series 45-23 over the Sabres, with eight straight wins under their belt.

THE OPPOSITION
- Three players from Marian finished in double-digit scoring. Kiara Williams led the way with a 22-point, 10 rebound double-double. Paris Harris added 15 points, while Lexi Brakenbush notched 14 of her own.

- Harris added two steals and two blocks. Chelsea King dished out three assists and added two steals.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will look to complete the season sweep as they host Aurora University on Wednesday. Action is set for 7:00 p.m. from the Todd Wehr Edgedome.
