LISLE, Ill. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team dropped a 49-42 NACC contest at Benedictine University on Wednesday night. In the battle of the Eagles, both teams struggled offensively and Edgewood College ended with 21 turnovers in the league setback. Despite the loss, Edgewood College clinched a spot in the NACC Tournament.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (14-10, 11-6 NACC) struggled from the start as Benedictine University (9-15, 9-8 NACC) built a 29-18 lead before halftime. Edgewood College turned the ball over 13 times in the first half and made just 7-of-28 (25 percent) from the floor, shooting just 3-of-13 in the first quarter. Benedictine jumped out to a 20-7 lead after the first ten minutes and led throughout the rest of the contest.
- Edgewood College would add 11 points in the second quarter thanks to Paige Banks, Claudia Fieiras, Sydney Ignoffo, and Kate Gunderson.
- The Benedictine lead never grew after the first quarter, as Edgewood College outscored Benedictine in the three following quarters.
- Edgewood College got within single digits in the fourth quarter, even getting as close as two points with 3:15 left after a made basket by Vivian Guerrero. Benedictine would respond with a 7-2 run to end the contest. Unfortunately, Edgewood College missed six shots in the final two minutes.
- Neither team shot particularly well, as Edgewood College ended the game with a shooting percentage of 29.6 (16-of-54) and 0-of-11 from three-point range. Benedictine recorded a 30.8 shooting percentage (20-of-65) and 28 percent (7-of-25) from beyond the arc.
- Edgewood College relied on their bench, with 23 points coming from substitute players. Fieiras recorded 11 points and six rebounds in 27 minutes off the bench. Banks recorded nine points and a pulled down seven rebounds. Emma Klein pulled down seven rebounds.
THE OPPOSITION
- Jordan Carlquist led the way for Benedictine with 14 points, nine rebounds, and four steals.
- Megan Duzansky added nine points, five rebounds, and three assists.

- Edgewood College has now clinched a spot in the NACC Tournament.
