MEQUON, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team dropped its second-straight game, 76-73 at Concordia Wisconsin on Saturday. The Falcons led from the beginning and a strong 44 points after the break wasn't enough for the Eagles victory. Three Eagles finished in double-digit scoring, with Paige Banks leading the way with her fourth game of 20 or more points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Concordia Wisconsin (13-10, 12-4 NACC) led by six heading into the final 10 minutes of action. Two-straight three-point makes from Banks and Kenzie Senffner tied the score at 57 a-piece with 7:00 on the clock in the fourth quarter. Edgewood College had multiple chances to take the lead through the final minutes, but missed shots and turnovers gave the Falcons the conference win.
- The Edgewood College (14-9, 11-5 NACC) offense came on in the third quarter, recording a 53.33 shooting percentage (8-of-15) and outscoring the Falcons 20-16. The Eagles continued to shoot well in the final 10 minutes, again going 8-for-15 from the floor and making 4-of-7 (57.14 percent) from beyond the arc. Unfortunately, down the stretch the timely shots did not fall for the Eagles.
- Concordia Wisconsin took a commanding 27-13 lead after the first quarter. The Falcons connected on five from beyond the arc and shot a game-high 58.82 percent (10-of-17) from the floor.
- Banks added her second-straight game of 20 or more points. The junior went 9-of-16 from the floor 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, and 6-for-6 from the charity stripe for 26 total points. Banks also added six rebounds.
- Eden Bonser and Vivian Guerrero added double-digit scoring of 12 and 11 points, respectively. Guerrero pulled down a team-high nine rebounds. Senffner added six points, five rebounds, and four assists.
- The Eagles finished shooting 46.7 percent (28-of-60) from the floor, 55.6 percent (5-of-9) from three-point range, and 85.7 percent (12-of-14) from the charity stripe. The Eagles three-point and free-throw shooting percentages finish second best of the season.
THE OPPOSITION
- Emily Hafemann led the Falcons with 21 points. Aubrey Buchholtz added 15 points, while Lily Guerra wasn't far behind with 14 points. Erin Viergutz pulled down 13 rebounds and added two blocks and two steals.
