Berea downs Eagles in non-conference battle

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team fell to Berea College in their final contest at the Gratz Park Private Wealth Holiday Tournament hosted by Transylvania University. The Eagles struggled to get things going on the offensive side of the ball, falling 54-35 in non-conference action to close out 2023.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Berea College (7-2) held a slim 11-8 advantage through the first quarter. In what proved to be a defensive battle, the Mountaineers held Edgewood College (3-8) to just 18.75 (3-of-16) percent shooting from the floor in the opening 10 minutes.

- The Mountaineers continued to win the defensive battle, holding Edgewood College to single digit scoring in the second and third quarters. Berea improved to an 18 point lead (42-24) following three quarters of play.

- Edgewood College managed to trail Berea by just one point in scoring in the fourth and final quarter. Unfortunately, their 40 percent shooting (4-of-10) was too little too late.

- Kenzie Senffner led the Eagles with nine points and eight rebounds.

- Jayden Nortier added nine points.

- Vivian Guerrero pulled down eight rebounds and collected seven points.

THE OPPOSITION
- Eight different players scored for the Mountaineers on Saturday afternoon. Drea Satori led Berea with 10 points, scoring on 4-of-8 from the floor. Satori dished out six assists.

- Lynkaylah James pulled down a whopping 12 rebounds and scored seven points.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will return to action in 2024 against conference opponent Illinois Tech. Action is set for Wednesday, January 3 at 7:00 p.m. from the Todd Wehr Edgedome.
