LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team led for the entire second quarter and moments in the second half on Wednesday in a non-conference contest with UW-La Crosse. In a battle of the Eagles, the home team rallied back in the final two minutes to stun Edgewood College 68-63 despite double-digit scoring from four Eagles.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (0-3) led by six points or more at multiple points in the second quarter. In addition, they led 63-60 with three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. A six-straight free throw makes down the stretch from UW-La Crosse (2-1) sealed the fate for Edgewood College.
- It was a 10-2 run to being the second quarter that propelled Edgewood College to a 28-21 lead. UW-La Crosse would bring the difference back to just one point at halftime, as Edgewood College led 34-33 into the break.
- Edgewood College stifled the UW-La Crosse attack in the fourth quarter, only allowing the home team to shoot 16 percent (2-of-12) from the floor in the final 10 minutes.
- Berg led the Eagles with a career-best 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor. Berg added five rebounds on the evening. Kenzie Senffner was on fire from beyond the arc, making 4-of-8 from three-point range and dropping 14 points. Senffner also dished out six assists.
- Kallie Norby and Vivian Guerrero both notched double-doubles on the evening. Norby dropping 13 points and pulling down 10 rebounds, while Guerrero recorded 12 points and 11 rebounds.
- Edgewood College shot 49.1 percent (27-of-55) from the floor and 50 percent (7-of-14) from three-point range.
- The biggest difference on the evening came via possession. UW-La Crosse managed a whopping 14 steals in the non-conference contest, compared to just three from Edgewood College.
- Lauryn Milne led UW-La Crosse with 16 points, nine rebounds, and four steals. Grace Knupp and Kailee Meeker both recorded 10 points.
