MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Eagles women's basketball squad kicked off their Todd Wehr Edgedome slate Saturday afternoon. The North Central Rams traveled south to face them in a non-conference tilt. The Eagles (1-3) earned their first win of the season 83-55 over the Rams (1-2) with freshman
Jayden Nortier's 29 points being a highlight.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College went on a tear in the second five minutes of the first quarter. After being tied six-all with North Central, the aggressive Eagles' offense outscored the Rams 18-0 to dig their talons into control of the game.
- Edgewood College outshot North Central 58.82 (10-of-17) percent to 9.52 (2-of-21) from the floor in the first 10 minutes.
- The Rams fared little better as the Eagles kept up the attack in the second quarter. A 7-2 run late left Edgewood College with their largest lead of the half heading into the locker rooms up 46-16.
- North Central kept pace with the Eagles in the third period, with each team putting up 20 points, but were unable to cut into the Edgewood College advantage.
- The fourth quarter was a different story. The Eagles built their lead up to 41 points off the back of a 15-4 run to effectively put the game to bed, leading 81-40 with 3:21 remaining. The Rams would outscore Edgewood College 15-2 in the remaining minutes.
- The Eagles finished with a 47.9 percent (35-of-73) shooting percentage from the field, compared to North Central's 27.4 (23-of-84) percent.
- Edgewood College dominated in fast break points with a 27-to-6 advantage.

Jayden Nortier was outstanding in her first home game as an Eagle. She shot 12-of-17 from the field, good for 29 points, and earned a double-double with 10 rebounds.

Vivian Guerrero continued to excel with 18 points and 16 rebounds as well as two blocked shots.

Kenzie Senffner recorded 11 points and eight rebounds, while
Ava Berg tallied six assists, two blocks, and two steals.
- Kayla Hola led the visiting Rams with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The 64 rebounds as a team ties the second-highest single game mark in program history (Dominican, 01/18/2023)
- Nortier's 29 points were a career high for the freshman in her first-ever game at the Todd Wehr Edgedome.
- The 27 assists as a team were good for ninth on the single-game record books.
- Edgewood College holds a 4-1 lead over North Central (MN) in the all-time series and has won back-to-back outings over the Rams.

The Eagles will travel west to an exhibition match Tuesday evening. They will face off with the UW-Milwaukee Panthers in Milwaukee, Wis. with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Their next regulation game will be at the Todd Wehr Edgedome next Saturday, November 25 against the Dubuque Spartans with a start time of 2:00 p.m.
