Second half barrage downs Eagles at Green Knights

DE PERE, Wis. – The Edgewood College Eagles men's soccer squad entered their final match of the regular season Wednesday with Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) playoff implications. They battled with the St. Norbert Green Knights on a rainy night at Schneider Stadium. The two teams played tough in the first half, but five second half goals propelled the Green Knights (8-6-3, 7-3-2) past the Eagles (8-8-3, 4-6-2) with a 6-0 finale

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A defensive struggle kicked off a rainy and cold night in De Pere, but St. Norbert struck first with 4:31 left in the first half, putting home a shot 15 yards out off the top bar.

- The Green Knights outshot Edgewood College 6-to-2, with a 3-to-1 advantage on goal in the half.

- The second half was all St. Norbert. The Green Knights made it 2-0 57:31 on the doorstep in the low left corner, before putting home another two minutes later angled to the far post for their third goal.

- Their fourth goal came at 72:12 with good passing in the box, before a Payton Schilz slide kick put home a long service at 78:03. Schilz sent home back-to-back scores, capitalizing on some tic-tac-toe at 85:18 to seal the final tally.

- Four other St. Norbert attackers recorded goals. Kevin Ramirez, Charlie Neitzke, and Willem van den Akker each contributed two assists.

- The Green Knights had a dominant shot advantage on the Eagles with a 13-to-2 tally and had nine shots on goal to the Edgewood College's one

- Maverick Van Laanen did well in goal, saving three shots in the face of an St. Norbert onslaught.

- Drew Jarstad recorded the lone shot on goal for the Eagles, while Jonathan Alfaro had a shot off target.
