RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Edgewood College men's soccer team fell to Dominican University 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon. Miguel Konde Gwo netted the Eagles lone goal in the second half to tie things up, but the Stars rallied back in the final 10 minutes to take the conference contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Dominican University (8-3-2, 5-1-2 NACC) scored the only goal of the first half. Dylan Alic found the back of the net in the 39th minute, assisted by Oscar Montejano. Alic's goal would stand for a 1-0 Dominican lead through to halftime.
- Edgewood College (7-6-2, 3-4-1 NACC) was determined to scoring coming out of the break. The Eagles took three shots in the first eight minutes, the third coming off the foot of Konde Gwo. His equalizer coming in the 54th minute, assisted by Noah Hook.
- With just under nine minutes remaining, Oscar Montejano scored the winning goal for Dominican.
- The Eagles took twice as many shots in the second half than in the first; amassing 12 total in the contest. Dominican barely outshot the Eagles, 14-12 on the afternoon. Hook led the Eagles with five shots. Konde Gwo added three, two on goal.
- Maverick Van Laanen recorded four saves for the Eagles. Shane Marinkovich and Oscar Cerritos split time in net for Domincan, totaling three saves.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Konde Gwo's goal goes down as his 11th of the season. He is now tied for 12th place in the Eagle record books for most goals scored in a season. He is just one goal shy of tying head coach Tim Bruner, who scored 12 goals in a season in both 1998 and 1999.
