Eagles hold off Raiders for Seventh-Straight Victory

MADISON, Wis. - The Edgewood College women's basketball team defeated MSOE on Saturday afternoon, 67-58 to improve to 9-3 in conference play. The Eagles began a four-game home-stand with their seventh-straight victory. Vivian Guerrero led the Eagles, landing her eighth double-double of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED         
- Guerrero continued to be dominant on both sides of the ball for Edgewood College (12-7, 9-3 NACC). The sophomore tied her career-best with 23 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor and 9-for-9 from the charity stripe. Guerrero also pulled down 14 rebounds for the Eagles through 32 minutes of action.

- The Eagles locked down the Raiders three-point shooting from the start, only allowing 1-of-11 through the first two periods. MSOE (4-15, 3-9 NACC) hung with the Eagles from the start, only trailing by five points (18-13) after the first ten minutes. The Raiders outscored the Eagles 16-15 in the second quarter, reducing the lead to just four points at halftime.

- Coming out of halftime, the Eagles defense locked down the Raiders attack. Edgewood College only allowed nine points in third quarter and held the Raiders to just 25 percent (3-for-12) shooting from the field. In addition, the Eagles knocked down 18 points and went on a 12-point scoring run, their best of the game.

- The Eagles held off a 20-point fourth quarter performance from the Raiders for the victory.

-  Guerrero and Eden Bonser both added double-digit scoring performances for Edgewood College. Bonser recorded 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor and 2-for-4 shooting from beyond the arc. Emma Klein added two makes from three-point range and collected eight points, five rebounds, and two assists. Kenzie Senffner added seven rebounds on the afternoon.

- Edgewood College dominated the rebounding game, pulling down 44, compared to 37 from the Raiders. 37 of the Eagles 44 rebounds came on the defensive side of the ball.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood College completes the season sweep on the Raiders, having won in Milwaukee back on January 7. The Eagles now own the all-time series 51-13.

THE OPPOSITION
- Mahima Chokshi and Raekyiah Williams each scored 15 points for the Raiders. Chloe Kurkjain pulled down a team-high 14 rebounds.

- The Raiders shot 33.8 percent (23-for-68) from the field and just 16 percent (4-for-25) from beyond the arc.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will host Illinois Tech on Wednesday. Action is set for 7:00 p.m. from the Todd Wehr Edgedome.
