RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Sophomore Vivian Guerrero posted her sixth double-double of the season, leading the Edgewood College women's basketball team to a 58-41 win over Dominican University Wednesday evening. The Eagles had three players finish in double figures in the NACC win, as Paige Banks and Kallie Norby helped pace the Eagles to their fourth-straight victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After leading 18-4 through one quarter, Edgewood College (9-7, 6-3 NACC) continued to roll in the second period. The Eagles built a 30-12 advantage going into halftime, and held Dominican University (1-15, 0-9 NACC) to just eight points in the second quarter.
- The Stars came out of the halftime and scored 12 points in the third quarter, one more than the Eagles. Despite being outscored, the Eagles maintained a 41-24 advantage going into the final quarter.
- Both the Eagles and Stars notched 17 points through the final 10 minutes of action. Nine of the Eagles points came via three-point makes.
- The Eagles best offense came in the first quarter, as they shot 47.06 percent (8-of-17) from the floor. Overall, Edgewood College finished the contest shooting 33.8 percent (24-of-71) from the floor and 35.3 percent (6-of-17) from three-point range.
- Banks led the Eagles scoring, knocking down 15 points which included two makes from beyond the arc. Norby added 11 points and eight rebounds for the Eagles.
- Guerrero continued to shine, pulling down 18 rebounds, scoring 12 points, dishing out three assists, and adding three blocks. Guerrero also recorded two makes from three-point range.
- Emma Klein dished out a team-high five assists, while Kenzie Senffner added four assists.
- The Eagles defense held the Stars to a shooting percentage of 21.9 (16-of-73) from the floor.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Guerrero pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds, good for a tie for tenth in the Edgewood College record book.
- The Eagles compiled 64 rebounds, the most of the 2022-23 season and second most in program history.
- For the fifth time this season the Eagles have recorded double digit offensive rebounds. All five games have been wins.
THE OPPOSITION
- Nine different Dominican players contributed to scoring on Wednesday night. Kamryn Woods led the way with nine points.
- Mariangely Velez pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Daisa Norris dished out four assists.
