Balanced attack vaults Eagles over Inferno

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team locked down their third straight victory with a final score of 72-52 over Alverno College. 11 different Eagles contributed to the scoring effort on Saturday night, as Vivian Guerrero and Claudia Fieiras led the way with double digits.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (8-7, 5-3 NACC) saw another balanced offensive effort on Saturday evening. The Eagles shot 40.7 percent (24-of-59) from the floor.

- The Eagles went on a 10-2 run to start the contest and never looked back, taking a seven-point lead going into the second period.

- Alverno (2-12, 0-8 NACC) hung with the Eagles offensively in the second period, scoring 16 points and shooting 37.5 percent (6-of-16) their best of the contest. The Inferno would close the Eagles lead to just three points (31-28) going into halftime.

- Edgewood College came out of the break determined, scoring a dominant 25 points and regaining a double-digit lead going into the final quarter. Seven different Eagles contributed to the scoring effort, recording a 52.94 shooting percentage (9-of-17), their best of the night.

- The Eagles biggest lead of the night came in the final 10 minutes, as Emma Raupp added her fourth and fifth points of the night from the charity stripe for a 21-point advantage.

- Two Eagles scored in double figures on the evening, with Guerrero leading the way with 13 points. The sophomore went 5-for-9 from the floor and 3-for-3 from the charity stripe. Claudia Fieiras wasn't far behind, compiling 10 points for the Eagles. Emma Klein and Kate Gunderson each notched eight points in the win.

- Guerrero pulled down a team-high eight rebounds, four offensive and four defensive. Fieiras and Banks each added seven rebounds, with Fieiras pulling down an impressive five offensive rebounds.

- 11 different Eagles scored in the victory, while 15 pulled down a rebound. In addition, 34 of the Eagles points came off the bench.

THE OPPOSITION
- Three Inferno players scored in double digits on Saturday. Camiria Sardin and Kyla Jamerson led the way with 13 points each. Mya Roberts added 11 points of her own. Sardin added 11 rebounds, four offensive and seven defensives.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Gunderson recorded a career-best eight points, shooting 3-for-5 from the floor.

- Edgewood College now leads the all-time series vs Alverno 26-10, with 10 straight wins.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will play at Dominican University on Wednesday. Conference action is set for 7:00 p.m. in River Forest, Ill.
