Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Eagles finish Texas Stay with 3-1 Victory over UW-Stout

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Edgewood College women's volleyball squad wrapped up their weekend stay in Texas. They played a matchup against UW-Stout Saturday afternoon. The Eagles (2-1) took home the victory 3-1 (25-15, 21-25, 25-21, 25-17) over the Blue Devils (0-4).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles started off the first set on a 13-2 run, but the Blue Devils evened the match with a 6-1 run to close out set two. Three attack errors from Edgewood College assisted UW-Stout in the run. The Eagles would have short memories and bounce back with a 7-1 start to set three to keep the third frame out of reach of the Blue Devils. The fourth set would be a similar story, with Edgewood College pushing out to a 10-2 lead and never looking back.

- The Eagles had 14 aces to UW-Stout's one. Taylor Salmon and Lea Bunch had four aces each, while Katie Borchert had three.

- The Blue Devils won the hitting percentage battle, with a .195 percentage to Edgewood College's .163.

- Ashley Bruehlman continued her strong start to her Edgewood College career, tallying 16 kills and 10 digs with a .263 hitting percentage on 38 attacks.

- Salmon also had 29 assists, while Abigail Hoffmann had 16 assists as the Eagles continued to find success with a two-setter system.

- Bunch had 24 digs and Borchert tacked on 11 to anchor the Eagles defense.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
- The 14 aces as a team are tied for 13th on the all-time single game team record list, last set in a September 9, 2021 match against Carroll.

- The Eagles are now 2-3 against the Blue Devils dating back to 2000.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood College returns to Wisconsin for the UW-Oshkosh Invite next Friday.  They play UW-Whitewater at 5:00 p.m. and Millikin at 7:00 p.m.  The Eagles are 2-13 against the Warhawks since 1995, while they are 1-4 against the Big Blue.  This is the first time Edgewood College will play Millikin since the 2013 season.
