ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Edgewood College men's soccer team dropped a NACC road tilt at Rockford University on Wednesday evening. The Eagles couldn't find the back of the net against the Regents resulting in a 2-0 final.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rockford University (3-2-3, 1-1-0 NACC) struck first in the 23rd minute, as Simeon Adesina found the back of the net off a pass from Julius Eser. Edgewood College (1-5-1, 1-2-0 NACC) outshot the Regents 7-6 through the rest of the first period, but it wasn't enough, as Rockford took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
- Edgewood College came out firing in the second half, with back-to-back shots in the first five minutes. Gustavo Lazcano held the Eagles in check, making six saves on the night in goal for the Regents. Rockford's final goal came in the 64th minute, as Abraham Gonzalez scored.
- Both teams were almost equal in offensive opportunities in the contest, as Rockford barely outshot the Eagles 16-15. Seven of the Regents shots were on goal, while six of the Eagles shots were on net.
- Drew Jarstad led the offensive attack, taking four shots, one on goal. Will Thesing, Elliah Tameklo, Austin Hauser, and Hunter Collins each notched two shots for Edgewood College. Jack Gentner played a big part in goal for the Eagles, collecting five saves.
