MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's soccer team opened their conference slate with a 0-0 tie against MSOE. It was a big defensive battle for the Eagles, as they held off 17 shots from the Raiders.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (4-1-1, 0-0-1 NACC) had few opportunities to take the win, as they only got off three shots in the contest, none on goal. The Eagles attack had a few good runs into the Raiders defensive zone, but nothing accumulated as the Raiders speedy defenders managed well.
- MSOE (2-1-3, 0-0-1 NACC) took 17 shots in total, with only two on goal. The Raiders had most of their opportunities to score occur in the second half, with 10 shots. Afifi Leena showed off her speed and skill, taking five of the Raiders shots.
- Possession was barely in favor of the Raiders (56%), as they spend the majority of their time in the attacking third.
- Lauren Clark, Greta Blau, and Kamy Luecke each took a shot for Edgewood College. Kailey Adamski was unafraid as the defensive backbone, making just two saves, but stopping many Raiders opportunities in the box.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The game was the Eagles first tie of the season and first scoreless tie in over six years. The Eagles last tie was a 0-0 match against UW-Platteville during the 2016 season.
- Edgewood College has not allowed a goal since Thursday, September 1 against UW-Platteville.
