MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Eagles women's tennis squad continued their Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) schedule with their home opener against the Marian Sabres. Rain forced the Sunday afternoon duel indoors. The Eagles (2-3, 2-0 NACC) took home their second straight 9-0 victory over a conference foe, this time over the Sabres (2-3, 1-1).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College started off the sweep with an 8-0 victory by
Jewel Lindwall and
Cassie Henderson in no. 3 doubles, the pair defeating Julia Loomans and Melana Brunton.

Cecile Fuchs and
Ellie Murphy took down Carly Paulson and Aeryn Olson in top doubles billing 8-2, while
Maddy Coopmans and
Madelyn Connaughty concluded the doubles portion of the match with an 8-3 win over Abby Okon and Katrina Pokorny.
- The Eagles clinched the match over the Sabres early in doubles. Fuchs grabbed a clean 6-0, 6-0 victory over Paulson in top singles, while Coopmans earned Edgewood College's victorious point with a 6-0, 6-2 victory in the no. 5 slot.
- Murphy put together a flawless 6-0, 6-0 match in the third singles battle over Okon.
Christina Ekkela continued her strong start as an Eagle with a 6-2, 6-1 win against Brunton.

Evelyn Taylor and Lindwall wrapped up the strong showing for the Eagles, with Taylor taking no. 4 singles 6-1, 6-2 over Pokorny. Lindwall earned a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Olson in the second singles slot.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood College is now 17-0 against Marian since 2008 and have swept three of the last four matchups.
- The Eagles continued to show the strength of their depth, with the match being the second straight they used eight players.
