VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Soccer team kicked off its 2022 season with a home match against UW-Platteville on Thursday afternoon at Edgewood College Field at Reddan Park. The Eagles offense found its stride in the second half, but one goal wasn't enough, resulting in a 3-1 setback in the 2022 opener.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (0-1-0) finished the afternoon with a game-high 16 goals, compared to just five from UW-Platteville (1-0-0). Despite taking nine of 16 shots in the second half, the Eagles were only able to find the back of the net once. Sydney Feldner notched the Eagles goal in the 71st minute. Feldner converted a loose ball in the box for the first goal of the 2022 season.
- The Pioneers were efficient in their offensive efforts, scoring three goals on just five shots, four on goal. Emma Willard scored the first goal of the game in the 14th minute. Lauren Lodico added the second goal for the Pioneers just a minute later. Lydia Smith notched the third and final goal for UW-Platteville in the second half.
- Kailey Adamski made her first career start at keeper, making just one save. Her counterpart, Emma Ball ended the afternoon with seven saves.
- Siobhan Gallagher and Rylee Brotz each tallied three shots for Edgewood College.
