Eagles Men's Golf Preview

The Edgewood College Men's Golf team has showed its consistency over the past six seasons. The Eagles have posted seven-straight runner-up finishes at the NACC Championships and bring back five returners from last year's squad as they look to take the next step. . All-NACC performers Kasen Fager and Jake Schroeckenthaler also return, as do Ryan Beck, Noah Anderson, and Jeromy Toutant.  Former Eagle Matthew Davidson also returns in a coaching role, as head coach Gary Oftedahl commented.

“A plus for the program is the addition of alum Matt Davidson as our GA coach. Matt left EC as our all-time low scoring average leader, earned numerous individual championships, All Conference Years and Academic All American honors. He brings a wealth of college golf experience to the program."

Head Coach Gary Oftedahl

Gary Oftedahl
Gary Oftedahl has been in charge of the Men's Golf program at Edgewood College since the 2000-01 season. During that time, he has led the Eagles to 16 top-two finishes in conference play. The Eagles have captured five conference titles under Oftedahl's guidance and have reached the NCAA Championship twice.

When asked about the upcoming season, head coach Gary Oftedahl said; "We return a strong nucleus of Senior golfers, led by All-Conference player Jake Schroeckenthaler.  We also have seniors Kasen Fager and Ryan Beck, both of whom finished within the top 25 individuals for Conference last spring-Kasen was All-Conference his Soph. year.  This experience along with some impressive Freshmen talent, should allow us to make a strong run for the NACC Championship. Length and power are not lacking from this group- we need refinement with scoring clubs, especially our wedge and putting play.

Many members of the team had a very successful tournament summer. They had positive results in numerous WSGA and WPGA summer tournaments.  It’s a fun group- they excel in the classroom and strive for success on the course too. They seem driven, looking for improvement both personally and for the team.

I’m excited as we begin my 53 year of coaching golf."
